Exploring Inspiring Initiatives at the Ivy+ Volunteer Fair

Attending the Ivy+ Volunteer Fair in Beijing this weekend, 26 Oct.2024, was an inspiring experience that showcased the range of impactful work happening within our community. As I explored various booths and spoke with organizers, several programs stood out for their unique missions. One of the most intriguing was a movie service for the blind, which enriches lives by offering visually impaired individuals the opportunity to enjoy cinema through audio descriptions and other accessibility features. Another was a 1-on-1 tutoring program for college students—a mentorship initiative aimed at guiding students who feel uncertain about their career paths, offering practical advice and emotional support as they transition into professional life.

It was particularly rewarding to see Tencent SSV, an organization I’ve had the pleasure of working with on philanthropic events, represented among the attendees. The energy was contagious, and it was clear that each NGO was driven by a genuine commitment to making a positive impact, with many professionals donating their time, expertise, and resources pro bono.

Seeing these organizations and their impactful programs has deepened my appreciation for the power of community-led change. In an era where purpose-driven work is more critical than ever, it’s heartening to witness so many individuals and groups coming together to create opportunities for underserved communities. I left the event with a renewed sense of purpose and a desire to continue contributing to these transformative efforts.
